Animal Sounds

Learning animal noises is a fun way for kids to practice an animal’s name in English. Let´s sing Animal sounds song!

About the Song

Kids love animals! Whether it’s cats, dogs, birds, or mice, children are always intrigued and amused by the different creatures they meet. Kids are curious about what they look like, where they live, and one of the first characteristics they usually learn is animals sounds.

Learning animal noises is a fun way for kids to practice an animal’s name in English. We all know that it can be hard for our little ones to sit still and learn, especially when learning English as a second language. But it doesn’t have to be! So how else can they learn? Instead of just reading and writing animals’ names, also try acting out animals to improve your child’s vocabulary. Ask them, what sound does a cat make? How about a duck? Can they make a dog noise? All these questions are great for kids!

But it turns out that learning about sounds that animals make has some other important functions in children’s education: they act as a tool for developing a child’s imagination and thinking process, this means that nursery rhymes are a great way to improve creativeness during early childhood; through songs the little ones get to experience a different world that puts their creative ability to practice; they work on improving their retention by learning the rhymes and baby songs lyrics, and they represent an important aid for a child’s speech development, as well.

In this nursery rhymes song, kids will be able to listen and practice both the names of the animals and their sounds as they follow a baby superhero strolling down the park. As the baby walks by, it finds out there are a few animals hidden in different places of the park. You can see an owl in the tree top, and a worm crawling up a tree trunk, also a couple of snails are seen crawling on the grass. Throughout the song, children are encouraged to ask various questions about what type of animal they might find inside a bush, in a tree stump, and inside a pond, just like a guessing game! It’s a fun way to practice making and answering questions, while widening kids’ vocabulary.

If your little one is not old enough to speak or make complex sentences, you can always encourage your child to act like their favorite animal! This way, besides practicing different animal sounds that can improve your child’s memory, you’ll be transforming the song into a psychomotricity game, which will help them have fun while learning. After making an animal noise, practice saying the animal’s name with your child several times. Repetition is key to soak in new concepts!

First, watch the video and then, you can make your own animals names list. Ask your child what other animals they can spot in the video, and where they are. Now you can turn it into your own animal song for children! How many animals does your child know? As they learn more names and sounds, you can keep adding them to your song! Remember to go over other vocabulary that appears in the video, such as plants, trees and flowers. Ok, are you and your little one ready to have some fun? Let’s learn English! Let’s sing a song about animals!
