Alice the Camel Lyrics

Alice the camel has five humps.
Alice the camel has five humps.
Alice the camel has five humps.
So go, Alice, go.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!

Alice the camel has four humps.
Alice the camel has four humps.
Alice the camel has four humps.
So go, Alice, go.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!

Alice the camel has three humps.
Alice the camel has three humps.
Alice the camel has three humps.
So go, Alice, go.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!

Alice the camel has two humps.
Alice the camel has two humps.
Alice the camel has two humps.
So go, Alice, go.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!

Alice the camel has one hump.
Alice the camel has one hump.
Alice the camel has one hump.
So go, Alice, go.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!

Alice the camel has no humps.
Alice the camel has no humps.
Alice the camel has no humps.
Because Alice is a horse,
Because Alice is a horse!

About the Song

Alice the Camel” is one of children’s all-time favorites. This popular song for kids is not only great for singing and dancing but can also be a useful learning tool, even for the younger ones!

This traditional nursery rhyme tells the story about a camel named Alice who happens to have many humps! In the story, two little girls are traveling around the desert on top of Alice the Camel. At first, the girls notice that Alice has five humps. They do a little dance with Alice and continue on their merry way. Then, one of Alice’s humps disappears and she is left with just four. What a mystery! However, the girls continue to encourage Alice to keep on going.

As time passes, Alice’s humps keep disappearing one by one. She has three humps, then two, then one… Then none! This when, all of a sudden, the girls realize that Alice is no longer a camel, but a mare. An incredible change, to say the least!

This beautiful song is much more than that, it’s also a game to learn early counting. You can check out the video with your child and encourage them to count how many humps does Alice have.

Then, you can practice subtraction as the humps keep disappearing. To do this, ask your little one: “How many humps are left if Alice has five and one disappears?” Of course, four humps! Repeat this simple counting game and until there are no more humps left to count, and also take this opportunity to go over the numbers in English.

After this activity, you can start with a whole different subject and practice the animals in English! Does your little one know what a camel is? Explain that camels are large animals that usually live in desert type areas. They have a hump or two on their backs that help them go for days without water or food.

Use adjectives in English to describe the camel, and also practice the colors by talking about the things you can find in the desert. What color is the sand? Does your little one know that cactus are green and some have pink flowers? They are not only very strong but also pretty!

Finally, once you have finished practicing vocabulary in English, it’s time to dance together to the rhythm of the song! You can use it for school activities, study breaks, and even to enjoy your free time during the summer!
