About the Song
What’s your little one’s favorite outdoors activity? Spending time outside the house is one children’s favorite pastimes. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the nice weather and to be active! The song “Playing Outdoors” is a nice way to celebrate leisure activities while talking action verbs!
Action verbs and childhood go along naturally. It’s at this time when children discover their favorite activities, games, and hobbies by practicing them with family and friends. They get excited when jumping, running, or climbing. The excitement a child has for playing outside could be a great ally when learning English as a second or foreign language. It can be a chance to incorporate games into their learning path to make more interesting and enticing.

In this song for kids, the Lingokids friends are having lots of fun in a playground during a bright and clear day. Throughout the song, the four friends try different activities that can be done at the park. Elliot the Panda is smiling while going down the slide while Cowy the Cow and Billy the Bird are enjoying themselves going up and down on the seesaw.
Next, Cowy and Elliot are playing on the swings, where they see who can swing faster. After, all the friends hop on the wheel where they spin smiling happily. Billy can be seen riding a skateboard, it’s one of his favorite activities while Cowy is riding a bike. In the meantime, Lisa the Cat and Elliot are digging in the sandbox, they are probably building a sandcastle!
After the sandbox, Lisa takes a pair of roller skates and rides around the playground! Later, Billy and Cowy decide to hop on the hopscotch and Elliot is pumped with the hula hoop. They’re having so much fun! After you sing the song and watch the video with your child a few times, make sure to repeat the different games and activities the friends do at the playground. You can try to spark a conversation in English with your child by asking the question “Which one is your favorite activity at the playground?”
Discuss all the different games and talk about what your child likes about each one. It’s a good way to put their English vocabulary into practice and also to improve fluency in spoken English.
Additionally, you can try and dance to the song by down movements to resemble the activities shown in the video. What’s important is to get creative and have fun family time!
