English for kids

Food Names Song

It’s important for children to understand that food can make us healthy and strong as we grow. Since practicing English is fun when we can sing and dance, let’s sing along with Lisa and Billy to learn food names in English!

About the Song

We’re hungry! Learning about food can be so fun! It’s important for children to understand that food can make us healthy and strong as we grow. That’s why we need to eat a meal three times a day! Of course, food can also be delicious. Ask your child if they have a favorite food to eat. What food vocabulary does your child already know in English? In the kitchen, what food words can they say? When you’re cooking, ask your child about the names of the ingredients you use. That way, they can learn new vocabulary words and even learn a thing or two about cooking.

Watch the video to learn food names! Lisa and Billy are having a picnic on the beach. What foods did they bring? A sandwich, a biscuit, a banana, and and orange! Help your child sing along with Lisa and Billy. Sing the song several times. This will help them remember new food words and increase their vocabulary. At the end of the song ask your child if he or she would like to have a picnic. What would he or she like to bring along? Encourage them to tell you in English!

Practicing English is fun when we can sing and dance. So c’mon! Let’s sing along with Lisa and Billy to learn food names in English!
