First things first: you can’t make a proper pizza without homemade dough!

Even though you won’t need this dough for all of our unique recommended pizza recipes for toddlers and kids, you’ll use it for most of them. So grab a pencil, paper, and write down our key ingredients for the perfect National Pizza Day celebration!

What you’ll need:

  • ¼ c flour
  • 1 tsp yeast (the fast-action dried variety is good)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 c. of water
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil

How to make it:

  1. Mix together the dry ingredients (flour, yeast, and salt) in a bowl.
  2. Stir in the water and olive oil.
  3. If the mix is too sticky, add more flour little by little.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball, then roll it out using a rolling pin. The rolled dough should be thin, as it will rise in the oven.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap. Otherwise, we bet your kids will have a blast dipping their hands in it!
  6. Let the dough sit for 10-15 minutes.

What you’ll need:

  • Pizza dough
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • A pinch of dried thyme
  • Cheese! We recommend mozzarella and cheddar

  • 1 pack of cherry tomatoes, cut into halves
  • Olives
  • 1 can of sweet corn

How to make it:

  1. Heat the oven to 475ºF.
  2. Using a whisk, mix together the tomatoes, garlic, and thyme into a delicious sauce. Then, smooth it over the pizza dough with a spoon.
  3. Scatter the cheese across the dough.
  4. Now, it’s time to get creative! Use the toppings to create unique faces—encourage your children to let their imaginations run wild. For example, the zucchini and olives make great eyes, while the pepper can be used as hair or lips. The cherry tomatoes will also make the perfect red nose.
  5. Put the pizza in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes until brown and crispy, and the cheese is completely melted.
